Today, Seegrid announced the addition of a new Robots as a Service (RaaS) offering. In this blog, we explain what the RaaS model is, how it works, and why you should consider it as an option when implementing Seegrid Palion AMRs in your manufacturing, warehousing, or logistics material handling facilities.
With more collaborative robots on the workforce roster and more mobile automation use cases on the near horizon, the subscription service model—Robots as a Service (RaaS)—is making its way into mobile automation technology. Seegrid’s RaaS option is a subscription-based method to access Seegrid Palion AMRs and enterprise software. RaaS is being offered in addition to our current purchasing and various leasing options, allowing customers to select the model that best fits their needs. RaaS enables customers to quickly access the latest Seegrid technology to automate material handling workflows—reducing upfront costs, improving time to deployment, and providing pathways to access a complete, connected, interoperable Seegrid Palion AMR fleet—all fully supported and maintained by Seegrid—through a subscription.
How Does RaaS Work?
When a company purchases Palion AMRs outright, the customer owns the equipment and is responsible for maintenance and technology updates with the option to add service plans. Alternatively, under Seegrid RaaS, the customer pays a subscription fee to use Palion AMRs and Fleet Central software Supervisor and Fleet Geek rather than purchasing them outright, and the plan is inclusive of Seegrid expert services, including training, as well as scheduled Wellness Checks and robot maintenance, support, and software updates, eliminating the need to add on maintenance and support plans. Seegrid material handling automation experts will continue to help customers define use cases, as well as implement and integrate the fleet into the customer’s operation.
The subscription model is flexible and scalable, empowering material handling facilities to lower the cost of entry to robotic automation, continuously improve with access to the latest mobile robotics technology, and operationalize automation budget as a recurring ‘as a service’ expense.
Why Should I Consider a RaaS Model for Automation?
Flexible and scalable, our RaaS offering provides access to Seegrid’s complete product portfolio of Seegrid Palion AMRs, enterprise software, and leading services to streamline and reduce time to deployment. Choose the quantity and types of Palion AMRs that best suit your material flow demands and automation initiatives, and gain a competitive edge with continued access to the latest advancements in robotics technologies.
In addition to having access to the leading innovations in mobile robotics, you will achieve higher degrees of success with automation initiatives due to our consultative approach. Sharing best practices from working with some of the world’s largest brands, our skilled team of material handling automation experts can help you automate and validate for continuous improvement throughout your subscription term.
If a facility identifies a workflow that could benefit from adding a different Palion AMR model to work with what they currently have operating in their facility, the customer can add to their fleet to validate the automation interoperability use case. RaaS provides the flexibility to make adjustments to their robotic fleet over time to best suit their current needs.
Under the RaaS model, customers gain access to the latest Seegrid technologies and products. As new Palion AMRs and software updates become available, RaaS customers can access the new technologies, expanding their capabilities to address additional workflows for end-to-end hands-free automation.
The new RaaS model offers a multitude of benefits to customers looking to remain competitive while leveraging state-of-the-art mobile automation technology. In addition to providing subscription access to a complete, connected, and interoperable autonomous mobile robotic fleet and enterprise software with the latest enhancements, RaaS lowers the cost of upfront investment and includes a robust set of services to ensure seamless implementation, integration, and adoption.
